2023 Recap

2023 Recap
Alright, it's time for the much-anticipated annual recap! I've always enjoyed documenting my achievements throughout the year on my blog. It serves as a personal reminder of what I've accomplished and prompts me to reflect on whether I'm proud of my efforts. If you've been a long-time reader, you're familiar with this as my annual routine before year-end. So, let's dive into my 2023 recap together!

Honeymoon Trip to Maldives
At last, we embarked on our long-awaited honeymoon trip to the Maldives, postponed for four years due to the pandemic. Interestingly, the delay turned out to be a silver lining as it allowed us to save more, resulting in a more lavish experience during the trip. While everything on the island comes with a hefty price tag (for the quality we desired), it was undeniably worth every penny. The island's exquisite beauty left us enchanted, and we are already planning a return visit for another luxurious and relaxing experience.

Visited 9 Countries
Alright. This year has been an exhilarating travel adventure, and I'm ecstatic about it! Can you believe it? I explored a total of 9 countries! It was undeniably exhausting but incredibly satisfying. I secretly wish I could have such travel-packed years every time (though my husband might disagree, haha). In 2023, my journeys took me to Maldives, Taiwan, Japan, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Singapore. With trips almost every two months, there are still some travel itineraries I haven't shared with you guys. No worries, though—I'll do my best to write about them soon.

If you're curious, feel free to check out the respective travelogues below:

Travelled To 6 Countries For The First Time
As many of you may already know, I've made a personal commitment to travel to a new country every year. And guess what? I succeeded again, exploring 6 new countries this time! It was an enjoyable experience, and I'm eagerly anticipating more adventures in 2024. However, I've noticed that as I get older, achieving this goal becomes more challenging. The difficulty lies in finding suitable travel partners for each trip. I aspire to travel to more distant places, but some friends may find it costly or not aligning with their preferences. On the other hand, some friends may want to visit specific countries, which I might not be interested in due to having explored them multiple times. So, achieving this goal might become increasingly tough. I might have some new plans in 2024; who knows? We'll see how it goes.

Invites As The Speaker At MATTA Fair Twice
I challenged myself by taking on the role of a speaker at a public event for the first time! While I had previously been a guest speaker for private events hosted by Watsons and a K-beauty event, this marked my inaugural experience speaking and interacting with the public at the MATTA Fair. I was fortunate to be invited twice this year, in March and September, by the MITSUI group. A heartfelt thanks to them for the opportunity. It was a fantastic experience sharing insights with individuals who share a love for Japan, much like myself. I eagerly anticipate more opportunities like this in the future.

Went To The Pinkfish Festival
EDM has always been a significant part of my life, and this year, I was thrilled when my hubby took me to the Pinkfish Festival. While the idea of attending a rave party overseas is exciting, there's something special about enjoying it locally, especially since I don't need to take leave for it—haha! We had the opportunity to witness live performances by DJs like Meduza, Yellow Claw, Dash Berlin, and DJ Snake, among others. Our main motivation for attending this festival was our huge fandom of Yellow Claw (as you might know from my DWP vlog), and personally, I had the desire to meet Dash Berlin too. Coincidentally, during our Singapore trip, we unexpectedly ran into Dash Berlin, and we managed to get a photo with him! Lucky us!

It was an incredible night filled with music and energy. If you want to know more, check out the Instagram highlight here : https://bit.ly/Pinkfish

Went To The ONE OK ROCK Concert
Another highlight of 2023 was attending the ONE OK ROCK concert before our trip to Singapore. I've always wanted to meet them since I started listening to their songs in 2013, and, incredibly, my dream came true, all thanks to my hubby. It was his first-ever concert, and I'm delighted that he enjoyed it — I introduced the band to him, and he's been listening to their songs too.

It was a blast being in the rock zone (the most expensive tickets) and sharing the experience with fans like us. Everyone had a great time during the concert, and Taka's voice was simply amazing that night.

Missed out on their concert? No worries, you can check out the throwback here on my Instagram highlight : https://bit.ly/ShiniMetONEOKROCK

Hit 100,000 Views On Xiaohongshu
Last but certainly not least, I'm incredibly proud to announce that I've reached 100,000 views on Xionghongshu (XHS), also known as Little Red Book. While this number might seem modest for more prominent users, it's a small milestone for me as a beginner. I believe I can achieve even more since I'm not as active there compared to Instagram.

I'm committed to sharing more interesting content with my followers on XHS, and if you're a user too, feel free to follow me! : https://bit.ly/xhsshinilola

That concludes my 2023 recap. There are still more experiences and stories I'd love to share with you all, but those will have to wait until next year. If you're interested in my previous year's recap, feel free to read them as follows :
