What to Eat in Malacca / Melaka

After the previous Malacca Day Trip post, it's time to talk about what to eat in Malacca (Melaka). Who doesn't love foods right? As we all knew, Malacca is a food paradise which you must taste their local foods! Remember last 2 weeks I blogged about DaHong Homestay and I stay overnight at Malacca? Yuppiee, the owner bring us to explore the local delicious foods and beverages. Saliva starting to drop? Continue reading to find out more.

Local Nyonya food is a MUST try in Malacca! It is the fact that I can't find any other Nyonya cuisine with delicious authentic Nyonya foods other than Malacca. The good taste of it just memorable. The first stop would be Donald & Lily Nyonya Food which is just located nearby DaHong Homestay.

I guess you guys noticed there are many people queuing at the main entrance. Luckily we manage to get a seat without queuing. If you have a look at the big banner on left hand side, the 2 people in the photo are the owner. Even the local famous food show HoChak been here before.

Menu | Donald & Lily Nyonya Food
One of their popular dish are Nyonya Laska. Many tourist queue for this. We would love to give it a try unfortunately it was sold out so we decided to order other type of foods. We know why the customers rather queue and wait for the foods after check out their menu. The price range is reasonable. Now we gonna taste the foods to see whether it is worth to wait.

Nasi Ketuk Rendang Ayam | Donald & Lily Nyonya Food

I ordered a Nasi Ketuk Rendang Ayam (RM9.50) which also one of the famous dish here. I was attracted by the beautiful blue coloured rice so decided to order it. When it was served, I'm afraid it will be too spicy for me because I don't really eat spicy. Fortunately, it is not spicy at all and it is freaking delicious! I was amazed by the rendang chicken and sambal sauce. Strongly recommend to you guys!

Mee Siam | Donald & Lily Nyonya Food
My friend ordered Mee Siam (Regular - RM5.50 | Large - RM8). I didn't taste it because it looks spicy. However, what my friend told me that most of the time he order this mee siam because it taste not bad as well.

Mee Rebus | Donald & Lily Nyonya Food
Boyfie ordered a Mee Rebus (Regular - RM6.50 | Large - RM8.50). He said it taste so good. Actually he wanted to try the popular Nyonya Laksa but unfortunately it was sold out. Fortunately this mee rebus didn't disappointed him. He love how the sauce texture can be so thick and tasty.

Cendol Gula Melaka | Donald & Lily Nyonya Food

Another strongly recommend foods to you all would be Cendol Gula Melaka (Regular - RM3 | Large - RM3.80). What so special about this cendol is the gula melaka. We all knew gula melaka is the famous local product and it can bring out the tastiness of cendol.

Next destination would be Klebang Coconut Shake. It is the hottest drink in Malacca nowadays and this store was the ORIGINAL store of this drink. Why I purposely mentioned the original store because I found out many fake store try to follow the trend and sell this drink but end up not tasty at all. Well, I never try the fake one so I have no idea how was the taste. Boyfie tried one at another store, he claims that it just taste normal. During weekends, they a lot of people queue for the coconut shake so you cannot miss it when you visit Malacca.

They have two stores, if you would like to take away, you have to queue like other people on the roadside. If you would like to drink in the store, you have to drive into the road(car park) to the 2nd store and you will see more people inside it. Take a sit and wait, they will come to you and take order.

Klebang Coconut Shake

Ta-da! Finally we can give it a try on the famous Klebang Coconut Shake. It is delicious and most suitable to drink especially in the hot weather. The Vanila ice-cream taste good and you can even eat the coconut ice blended. Taste good and I can consume 2 glass of it! LOL

For the dinner, we decided to take dinner at Simply Fish which same row with Donald & Lily Noynya Food. The name of the restaurant speak it all, obviously it is serving fresh seafood and other variety of foods such as pasta, steak, burgers, chicken, lamb and so on.

Their concept seem not bad. Simple yet tidy. They use the fishing nets to surrounded empty bottles as decoration. I don't prefer the plastic chair of steel chair without any cushion because it will makes me feel uncomfortable. Luckily their chairs are not these types.

Menu | Simply Fish
Old Fashioned Fish & Chips | Simply Fish
Old Fashioned Fish & Chips (RM19.90) is a MUST try at Simply Fish. It's good ol' fried fish as its best! Lightly battered served with butter sauce. Actually I want to order this but since boyfie ordered this so I want to try something new. Boyfie saying the fish is so crispy and yummy.

Cherry Cheese Snapper | Simply Fish
Cherry Cheese Snapper (RM26.90) was my dinner of the day. Deep fried cherry snapper fish topped with cheese sauce. Served with mussel in marinara sauce and cheesy chips. The mussel is fine but I love the fried fish, it's crispy at outer layer and soft inside. I also prefer the thick size french fries instead of the thin type.

Pan Cake Ice-Cream | Simply Fish
How can we missed the dessert? We ordered a Pan Cake Ice-Cream (RM7.90).  Pan Cake with peppermint ice-cream topped with blueberry sauce. If you don't prefer peppermint ice-cream, no worries, you can always choose the ice-cream flavour by your own choice. The default flavour would be vanilla but I requested with peppermint because I like it. Overall I think the pan cake is soft but I hope the outer layer can be more crispy.
