Chabashira Tea Roastery @ Petaling Jaya

CHABASHIRA TEA ROASTERY @ PETALING JAYA

Calling all #matcha lovers! Introducing Taman Paramount's new Japanese tea house - Chabashira Tea Roastery. It is definitely a hidden sanctuary located in this quiet town in Petaling Jaya. I was visiting a friend for a breakfast date and we went to this cafe for the second round. We are lucky because we took the last 2 seats available in the cafe. Once we sat, other customers want to walk in but it was a full house. Thus, if you want to pay a visit, make sure to come here in the morning to avoid the queue.

It's exciting to see they provide a variety of teas, desserts, tea powder and so on. It's like matcha heaven for those fans.

About Chabashira Tea Roastery
About Chabashira Tea Roastery

A singular moment in a tea house full of tales is their theme which is hard to come by reserve quality teas will be featured under their pillar. Following their concept philosophy - whenever a tea stem is floating upwards like a pillar in a cup of tea is considered rare, this is ‘CHABASHIRA’ (茶柱).

Cha-ba-shi-ra™ Tea Roastery places the ancient tradition of Japanese tea ceremony into a modern context, offering a one-of-a-kind experience of tea that meets design and taste.

Food & Beverages

Matcha Ice Cream

To be honest, I'm not a hardcore matcha fan, but when it comes to matcha, the first thing that I wanna try would be the matcha ice cream.

This silky smooth matcha ice cream is spot on. The matcha bitter aftertaste is so strong! If you're a super matcha fan, then you shouldn't miss this.

Parfait

A dessert inspiration they brought directly from their sister cafe - Maikotea boutique in Kyoto. If you want to try their matcha ice cream but you don't like the bitter aftertaste, you may order this. The toppings (such as chocolate roll, strawberries, azuki, Natta de coco, mochi etc) are the perfect match for the ice cream! It balances the bitterness, you can keep digging.

Yuzu Matcha

For the beverage, my friend had ordered the yuzu matcha. Seeing the drink colour already made us happy. Only the authentic matcha powder can create such a beautiful green shade.

The sour taste of yuzu is a bonus for this drink.

Gyokuro Fugenji Midori

Gyokuro is the highest grade of Japanese tea available and is characterized by fine green colour, rich aroma, and mellow, sweet flavour.

I tried this during my Okayama trip last time and I fall in love instantly! It was great to find this in Malaysia as it's not common as matcha. Love the aftertaste.

Interior

For the interior, the cafe gave me the humble Kyoto vibes. Since the cafe was crowded so we only managed to capture some photos at the back. The cafe is not that big even it is a corner shop lot but it was so minimalist and great for some good photos.

With a bamboo-cloaked zen garden, remind me of Kyoto's sceneries. It was unfortunate that we can't travel to Japan due to the pandemic. I miss Japan so much.

Merchandise

One of their core businesses in the industry is distributing their farm-grown Japanese green tea to some of the most famous brands and cafes around the world. With more than 80 years of experience in the tea business, they currently are distributing to 60 different countries around the world including Germany, United States, England, Korea, Spain, Estonia, France & Malaysia.

If your establishment are looking for a reputable international brand, perhaps do give them a buzz. They provide Uji matcha, reserved tea leaves, tea bags, Chabashira roast and tea utensils etc.

Overall, I think their foods and beverages, staff's friendliness, cafe interior are all good. I will definitely revisit this place. There are many items on the menu that are sold out when I pay a visit (only 12pm). I wish they can make more desserts so I can try them all on my next visit. Till here.
