Niko Neko Matcha @ Bangsar

NIKO NEKO MATCHA @ BANGSAR

Any matcha fans here? Because if you are, then you shouldn't miss this post! To be honest, I'm not a hardcore matcha fan here. I mean, I love to drink green tea a lot but for the dessert, not a fan. A few months back, I and my colleagues pay a visit to Niko Neko Matcha at Bangsar. Thus, I'm gonna share about what I've experienced here and verdict on the food & beverages.

About Niko Neko Matcha

For your info, Niko Neko Matcha is a contemporary artisan matcha brand that focuses on premium-quality matcha, showcased with their very own aesthetic touch of modern minimalist concept, which describes the state-of-the-art lifestyle, whilst preserving the vital traditional elements of matcha nature.

A concept store all about matcha

This concept store at Bangsar exudes minimalistic decor that looks aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Full of white space and sleek accents, this green tea shop is the place to be for all things Matcha and zen. πŸ’šπŸ΅

Unlike the usual cafe, it's more like a minimalistic art gallery. Every corner is so instaworthy. I like how they stick with the white colour scheme which is their signature. It makes the interior look clean and classy.

If you noticed, their table design is also different from the other cafes. It is unique and creative.

Desserts

Mini Matcha Burnt Cheesecake
Made in collaboration with the legendary burnt cheesecake maker The Tokyo Restaurant, the YURI / Matcha's deep umami (creamy, brothy, soupy) flavour is satisfying with one-of-a-kind melty yet dense texture. Don't be fooled by its mini size, it's pretty heavy and filling!

Mini Houjicha Burnt Cheesecake
Indulge in TSUBAKI / Houjicha's signature smokey and nutty aroma with a one-of-a-kind melty yet dense texture with this TTR cheesecake. Don't be fooled by its mini size, it's pretty heavy and filling!

Mini Genmaicha Burnt Cheesecake
Experience 2 flavours in 1 with MOKUREN / Genmaicha's rice crackerish aroma and lingering matcha aftertaste with one-of-a-kind melty yet dense texture. Don't be fooled by its mini size, it's pretty heavy and filling!

Verdict
Although I'm not a fan of cheesecake I love the genmaicha burnt cheesecake. Love the roasted aroma and the smooth texture very much! Will definitely order again.

Price
RM 10 / piece
RM79 / whole cake (6-inches)

Besides the popular burnt cheesecakes, we already ordered the choux and roulade.

Tsubaki | Hojicha Choux
A brand-new twist on the classic Choux Au Craqulein, delight yourself with a puff pastry encased in a crunchy exterior filled with an intense Tsubaki/Houjicha pastry cream.
Price : RM11 / piece

Houjicha Marble Roulade
This delicate roulade combines several textures in one with a soft, thin layer of crunchy Tsubaki / Houjicha meringue on the outside, that perfectly contrasts the light and airy half-houjicha, half-whipped cream filling. A perfect afternoon dessert for houjicha lovers!
Price : RM13 / piece

Verdict
I would prefer the roulade to the choux. The choux texture on the surface is not my cup of tea.

Beverages

Three of us but we had ordered a total of four drinks because we want to taste everything. Lol

Ren | Matcha Latte
Super high unami savoriness. It provides high creaminess and a clean aftertaste. Suitable for those people who like creamy.

Yuri | Matcha Tea
Fresh and vegetative. Mild umami savoriness and a hint of tea astringency.

Mokuren | Genmaicha
Shaded green tea and roasted brown rice. Rice cracker-ish note and matcha aftertaste. One of my favourite of all.

Houjicha Latte
Last but not least, a glass of Tsubaki Houjicha Latte. It is basically roasted green tea with a taste of high nuttiness and medium roastiness.

It tastes nice for me because I'm a fan of genmaicha and houjicha.

If you love their beverages and dessert, you can purchase their matcha powder as well. A lot of homemade bakers actually bought their tea powder to bake dessert.

There are so many types of you to choose from. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the cashier and they will guide you for the products.

Overall, it was a great experience and since there are not many tables, I feel quite chilled to enjoy my tea and eating the desserts. Will definitely revisit to try the other desserts and beverages. Bring your matcha friends here if you haven't pay a visit yet. XOXO.
