Surat Thani, Thailand Travelogue

SURAT THANI, THAILAND TRAVELOGUE

After relaxing at Koh Phangan for a few days, we decided to travel from Koh Phangan to Surat Thani. In order to reach Surat Thani, the only transportation would be ferry. So I finally made up my mind to travel by taking Phangan Tour 2000 ferry from Koh Phangan to Surat Thani.

Thong Sala Pier
On the day I was scheduled to leave for Surat Thani, I arrived at Thong Sala Pier in Koh Phangan about one hour early. Therefore, I had plenty of time to walk around and exchange my printed voucher at Phangan Tour 2000 counter to get my ticket for the ferry. There was no luggage sticker provided, so I had to take care of my own luggage (backpack).

Board the ferry
In order to take the ferry, we needed to walk to the pier. The walking distance is about 10 minutes. There are total two different entrances for the ferry. One was for Koh Samui pier (entrance No.1) and another one was for Donsak pier (entrance No.2). Before I depart, I had to present my ticket to make sure I was at the right place.

Phangan Tour 2000 Ferry
It's been a long time since I last took any ferry. Surprisingly the interior of the ferry was spacious and comfortable. It was air-conditioned, equipped with a couple of toilets, safety life jackets and it even has televisions! However, the ferry has a free-seating concept. If you want to have better seats, better board the ferry earlier so you can choose your seat. Apart from that, passengers also have the option to soak in a little bit of sun on the deck of the ferry.

There is a convenience store just in front of the seats so you can purchase some snacks and beverages. The store also provides a hot water dispenser so you can use it to enjoy cup noodles or hot drinks.

Arriving at Donsak Pier
The journey took about 2.5 hours to arrive at Donsak pier. At the Donsak pier, you can find the Raja ferry timetable with boat schedules for transfer between DonSak pier and Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan. Once you at the main entrance in Donsak pier, the Phangan Tour 2000 representative will be there and ask you to wait for the bus to arrive.

Board the bus to Surat Thani town
The bus journey took about 1.5 hours to arrive at Surat Thani town from Donsak pier. We arrived at Phangan Tour 2000 office at Surat Thani town after that. You can walk to the night market which is just nearby the drop-off point. The walking distance is about 15 minutes.

After we had arrived Surat Thani, we decided to talk a walk because we heard there a night market located nearby. We saw a few of this "dragon car" on the road. Sorry, I have no idea what is it called.

After about 15 minutes of walking, finally we had arrived the night market. I don't know what is the night market called because seem like we are the only tourist here so we didn't ask the local.

The night market is just located opposite of Family Mart. So if guy are planning to pay a visit, maybe you can take it as a landmark.

We passed by a random restaurant and I told bf their chicken rice looks so tasty, so we decided to give it a try. Since bf said he gonna try all the snack in the night market, so I was the only one to place order. I had order an iced thai green tea and fried chicken rice. Their chicken rice was so delicious! Too bad I forgot the restaurant's name.

Surat Thani Night Market
After finished my early dinner, we decided to take a walk and buy some snacks for supper. We passed by this sush stall and attracted by those mini size sushi. These sushi are so colourful and so cute! Many variety of selection and only cost about RM0.60 each!

We bought some of the sushi and some snacks. Since bf haven't eat just now, so he bought chicken rice for dinner.

When I saw ondeh ondeh at the stall, I asked bf is it that same ondeh ondeh that we ate in Malaysia? Out of curiosity and I love to eat ondeh ondeh, so we bought it. It taste exactly the same like in Malaysia! Bf bought some fried food too.

After finished our night market food haul, we took cab to our hotel. Our hotel is just located nearby Surat Thani International Airport. The owner already downloaded some movies on the TV, so all you need to do is just select and watch. There's a huge bathtub at the bathroom too. The owner is super duper friendly! He fetch us to the airport himself and don't want to charge us the transportation fees even we insist. Double thumbs up for him!

After arrived at Surat Thani Airport, we have our early breakfast at a random cafe. I had ordered a hot lemon tea and chicken burger while bf ordered fried rice with beef and hot coffee. Then we are heading back to Malaysia.

That's all for our Surat Thani Travelogue which also the last destination of our business trip. Don't have much entertainment since we went there for my ex company's business purpose. Till here.
