Afternoon Tea @ The Drawing Room, The St. Regis KL

AFTERNOON TEA @ THE DRAWING ROOM, THE ST. REGIS KL

It's been a while since I share about my afternoon tea experience with you guys. During Malaysia Day, I and my husband decided to spend our public holiday at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur. Experience the signature St. Regis Afternoon Tea, as 'The' Mrs Astor would have enjoyed back in the 19th century, at The Drawing Room of The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur. Inspired by the rolling hills of Malaysia's tea plantations, The Drawing Room is a choice venue for a relaxing afternoon tea or a gathering with friends for an elegant celebration. Be captivated by the refined elegance of the décor, designed to evoke an enchanting afternoon tea experience.

Savour scrumptious delights from the afternoon tea menu whilst under a glistening custom-made 5-tier crystal chandelier alongside the specially commissioned horse sculpture by notable Columbian artist, Fernando Botero.

It is the largest sculpture made by the artist, transforming an ordinary afternoon tea to one full of magic and grandeur at The St. Regis KL.

You can choose from a delectable selection of cakes and entremets displayed in a hand-crafted vitrine, while a Tea Sommelier is on hand to make recommendations on tea flavours.

For the tea selections, we had ordered the Grand Wedding and Jade of Africa. The Grand Wedding is a signature house blend that comes with a mystic green tea with a melange of wild berries and dried rose petals. On the other hand, Jade of Africa is the subtle fragrance of red berries and Sunflower petals. A light and fruity tea good for any time of the day.

Premium savoury Canape
For the savoury side, what we have was the Wild Mushrooms Quiche, Tuna Mayo Sandwich, Egg Truffle Mayo Sandwich, Prawn Madras and Chicken Satay Terrine.

All the savoury is refillable. Our personal favourite would be the prawn madras and wild mushrooms quiche. Not a fan of the satay terrine because we found it no flavour at all. Appreciate the refillable concept but we don't like the fact that they all serve it with a piece of bread.

Three-Tier Sweet
And here comes the sweet side!

Top Tier
Lemon New York Cheesecake, Pistachio Raspberry Tart

Middle Tier
7 Textures of Vanilla, 72% Valrhona Chocolate Cake, Exotic Eclair

Bottom Tier
Plain Scone and Raisins Scone with Devonshire Clotted Cream and Strawberry Rose Jam

For our verdict on the dessert, our least favourite was the 7 textures of vanilla. It was too buttery and we can't really find the 7 textures lol. Maybe just 5 I guess.

Another least favourite would be the lemon New York cheesecake. Way too sweet for both of us. Thought the lemon extract will help.

But we like 72% Valrhona chocolate cake, exotic eclair and scones.

The sweet side won 60% of our vote.

Overall, I think the services was great, the food was rated 7/10. Will I come back? Yes, if they had changed the afternoon tea menu. I would prepare to have a bunch of delicious savoury with non-refillable than a set of refillable savoury that tastes so-so.
