5 October 2017 Zhongshan, Guangdong, China

Finally I blogged about my trip to ZhongShan (中山), China. It has been a relax trip with my mom. Furthermore, it was my first trip with my mom alone! Normally we travel together with other family members. Basically this trip was just walking around and food hunting. I don't want to separate out many posts. Therefore, today I will talk about things to do in Zhongshan, China and another post would be what to eat in Zhongshan.  I had noticed not much people write about Zhongshan travelogue in English, hope it helps if you plan to visit soon. Alright, are you ready to find out more? Time to dig in!

First of all, this is my second visit to China and my first visit was about 10 years ago. During my last visit, my first impression on China people was they are loud, rude, attitude problem and so on. However, I need to emphasize not all of them, just certain people. When I was told to accompany my mom to ZhongShan, I was excited and worry at the same time cause I'm not sure whether their attitude still remain the same or not. Thank god, ZhongShan people is so friendly and nice. Their park and landscape are so beautiful. I guess maybe China is a huge country with large population so some area citizens are friendly, some citizens not. But I'm glad this trip changed my mind.

Zhongshan City, a prefecture-level municipality under the direct jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, has 24 affiliated towns and districts. Located at the south mid of the Pear River Delta, it covers a total area of 1,800 sq km. It borders Guangzhou on the north and is adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao. With an annual average temperature of 22 degrees centigrade, Zhongshan has a permanent population of 1,350,000. It is the birthplace of Dr. Sun Yat-sen,the great forerunner of Chinese democratic revolution, and is also a famous ancestral homeland for overseas Chinese. Over 800,000 overseas Chinese living in 87 countries and regions around the world including Hong Kong and Macao SARs and Taiwan Province can trace their ancestry to Zhongshan.

It was mom's third visit to Zhongshan but she hadn't been here yet. When I'm researching for the travel itinerary, this attraction was rated as top 2 on the list. So of course I need to bring my mom here to have a look.

When we were walking around, suddenly we saw a small shop is stating qipao for rent. Since we are already here, might as well rent a qipao to take lots of photos. I forgot how much for the rental but fo what I can recall, the cost is affordable.

How does you guys love our qipao look? Lol. Basically this attraction is all about walking around, enjoying the landscape and taking photos. The area here is huge. We spend our time here about 1 hour and half. So make sure you don't wear high heels during visit.

The purpose we came here was to take the popular ferris wheel. Unfortunately, my mom was afraid of height so she said she doesn't want to go with me. She asked me don't leave her alone so eventually I gave up on this and decided to go for shopping instead. Sad.... The entry ticket for ferris wheel is RMB 68.

When you're walking around, you can see the beautiful bridges and river just right behind of Central Power Plaza.

Because Zhongshan City is easily accessible by sea, consumers can find a wide variety of products from China as well as many other countries. While Zhongshan is slightly smaller than many other cities in the Guangdong Province, the reasonable prices allow it to compete economically with neighboring cities and make it a popular destination for visitors. In recent years, a series national industrial bases and a number of locally featured towns have been built in Zhongshan, which promote economic growth while satisfying a range of consumer needs.

Now, if you are ready to begin shopping, head to Sunwen Xi Road (孙文步行街). Sunwen Xi Road is the most attractive pedestrian street of Zhongshan City, featuring a long history and many shops. While you enjoy buying local products and souvenirs, take notice of the exotic buildings along the road, many of which were used as hotel, restaurants and department stores many years ago. Furthermore, if you are visiting Zhongshan City during the harvest season, make sure that you do not miss the many local fruits including litchi, pineapple, bananas, and longan.

If you can imagine Sunwen Xi Road as being a traditional Chinese elder, Fengyuan Business Street, in contrast, is a fashionable girl full of modern vigor. Located on Sunwen Middle Road, Fengyuan Business Street is marked by famous brands and large department stores.

Thought I'm in Japan now? Nope, this is a Japanese landscape for movie scene. They have several country themes of this attraction such as Japan, United Kingdom, France, China, United States etc.

I'm loving this glass house a lot! My mom said what's so special to this glass house? Just full of glass, wood and build on the pond. I said I have no idea why I love it, maybe I can feel the power of "zen" if my house like this. Lol

Check out all the dramas and movies that shot at here! Surprisingly I watched some of them but I can't believe I'm exactly at the same place that they took the movie scenes.

After visited Japan theme movie scene, we head to China theme movie scene.

As you can see from the photo, all of the interior is so retro and just like what we had seen from the old movies or TVB drama.

For your info, the label with the name on it is actually the name of the prostitude.

We are in "Orange Street". This street is more like 80's century movie scene.

I might see this scene when I was watching TVB drama. All the shop is so old school and totally worth to take some photos.

The China military base. Actually I want to take closer photo with the horse but I'm afraid it will kick me out. Lol. So I better stand far away to take photo with it.
Definitely worth to pay a visit. We didn't manage to finish visited all the movie scenes because it was almost dinner time. So we left to Sunwen Xi Road for dinner. If you're visiting early in the morning, maybe you able to visit them all.
