Mid-Autumn Afternoon Tea @ Grand Hyatt KL

MID-AUTUMN AFTERNOON TEA @ GRAND HYATT KL

It's been a while since I blog about afternoon tea. By the way, mid-autumn is just around the corner, have you been thinking about where to celebrate this festival with your friends and family? How about having a mid-autumn afternoon tea at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur?

In the anticipation of the harvest season, Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is celebrating the mid-autumn festival with a delectable afternoon tea and mid-autumn inspired dishes, curated by their Executive Sous Chef Byron Zhang.

“Mid-Autumn festival is more than just mooncakes. We created the menus with some of the must-eat foods during the festival such as pumpkin, taro, chestnut, pomelo and even duck. It is all about keeping the traditions alive with food!” says Chef Byron.

First up, guests will be served with one of Asia’s finest premium tea - JING tea (Pu-erh) for a complete afternoon tea experience.

I personally love to drink Pu-erh and it is the perfect drink to match with the savoury!

So, if you're thinking to order a drink to pair with the dessert, no worries. Beside of the Pu-erh, they will also serve tea or coffee (depends on your selection).

My husband had ordered a black coffee while I had ordered a cup of Earl Grey tea.

Savoury.

For a limited time of four days, diners can enjoy this seasonal afternoon tea with an oriental twist.

We started with the smoked duck and it is delicious! To be honest, I'm not a fan of duck meat. However, we fall in love with this duck dish and we feel one plate is not enough for us. Haha.

We love how the chef pair the smoked duck with sweet melon, so it can create different layers of taste.

We continue to taste the food and deep-fried wontons are the next dish.

Unlike the usual deep-fried wontons, these wontons are not oily at all. We love how crispy of its skin even we already put there quite a while when we are busy taking photos.

These are my husband's favourite dishes! The mid-autumn inspired dumplings (chestnut, pumpkin, taro). They look so cute right! We love the display especially the 'pumpkin' one. At first, we really thought it gonna be meat inside but eventually, the surprise is there!

Sweet.

Are you guys are excited about the afternoon tea tower?

It was served with the Pandan bird’s nest drink, mooncakes and pomelo seasonal fruit platter. Not to be missed are THIRTY8’s afternoon staples and all-time favourite – mango tartlet, hazelnut caramel Opera, bergamot-yuzu Madeleine and strawberry sable

Love love love this Pandan bird’s nest drink! I drink bird's nest all the time but I haven't tried the pandan bird's nest yet. This was my first time.

I'm actually looking forward to it before I come here to try because I love pandan too.

It tastes so good and makes me craving for it while I'm blogging it right now. Haha.

Since it comes with 2-afternoon tea tower, they served us 2 different flavours of the mooncake. The first one was black sesame with peanut while another one has come with red bean and chestnut. Both also taste great but we personally prefer the black sesame one because we love peanut a lot.

We love all their dessert especially the bergamot-yuzu Madeleine. It was light, soft and delicious.

What a sweet ending for us.
