Afternoon Tea @ Altitude Banyan Tree KL

AFTERNOON TEA @ ALTITUDE BANYAN TREE KL

Can't believe my last post about #food was on July 2018. I guess I should blog about food since you guys always craving for it. Also, I had created a hashtag #EatWithShini so whenever I've posted food photos on my Instagram feed, I will include this hashtag as well. It's easier for you guys to find food posts. So back to the topic. Last weekend, me and my girls had our afternoon tea at Altitude, Banyan Tree KL. Continue reading to find out more.

Located on Level 53, Altitude offers a calming environment for morning coffee, light lunches, afternoon tea and to enjoy our wine expert’s handpicked wines and craft beers, paired perfectly with a casual menu.

Noted this restaurant served all day but afternoon tea is only available between 2.30pm - 4.30pm. Here are some tips for the seat selection, sitting near to the window might get there the best photo with building outside and natural lighting for the food's flatlay shot. However, we had witnessed some of the customers are feeling hot when the sun hit on them. For us, we had sit on another side which is not near to the window. Not come with the best view but at least more comfortable. Thus, it's up to you whether where you want to see.

I love the environment as it is cosy and quiet. They also have a piano live performance as well. So if you're high tea alone, you can just enjoy the music.

Outside of the restaurant, there's a swimming pool and rooftop view. You may want to go there for photo purpose.

PRICE
Afternoon Tea Set RM98 per person (inclusive tax)

MENU

For the menu, the high tea set has been fixed. But you can choose your own beverages such as tea, coffee and juices etc.

Welcome

  • Garden Herb Garlic Tuile
  • Lemon Coral Crisp
  • Black Tiger Prawn Samosa

For the welcome food, my favourite would be the garden herb garlic tuile. It tastes not bad. For the black tiger prawn samosa, it doesn't taste like a prawn but I like how they make it one size smaller.

Savoury

  • Foie Gras Delights - Foie Gras Terrine, Smoked Duck Breast Truffle Macaron, Roasted Onion
  • The Sea Wave - Crab Meat Ceviche, Beetroot, Horseradish Dip
  • The Classic - Roasted Chicken Sandwich, Remoulade Sauce

The foie gras delights and the sea wave tastes great. And, the sandwich you can choose either beef or chicken, for us, we had to choose chicken because most of us don't eat beef.

  • The Cracker - Boston Lobster Panna Cotta, Herb Creme Fraiche

One of my favourite among other savouries. Love the panna cotta because its texture was so smooth and taste delicious. Good thing that it doesn't look good but taste good as well.

  • Land Meets Sea - Scallop Grissini, Potato Espuma, Harissa Milk Foam

It's fun to eat and taste not bad. We are still thinking about whether we should eat them together by dipping the food into the milk foam or eat separately. The process of discussion was hilarious. Lol

Sweets

Finally here's come the sweet part. It is the most important part for us because we (girls) always think if you failed in the sweet category, you're failed in our high tea.

  • Briolette Bites - Raspberry & Violet Mousse Cake, 35% Glazed White Chocolate

I didn't try this since I'm not a fan of doughnut. However, my girls tried it and they said they like it. So I guess it tastes not bad though.

(From left to right)
  • Strawberry Eton Mess - Vanilla Pastry Cream, Strawberry Sauce, Fresh Strawberry, Coconut Meringue Almond Sponge
  • Mango Passion-fruit Explosion - Passion Fruit Mousse, Mango Jelly, Green Tea Sponge
  • Cherry-choc - Cherry Mousse, Cherry Jelly, Almond Sponge,  Sea Salt Chocolate Sable
  • Pistachio Macaron - Pistachio Ganache, Chocolate Garnish
I love the strawberry eton mess, mango passion-fruit explosion and cherry-choc. However, as a pistachio lover, I can't say I love the pistachio macaron because I personally think it was too sweet for me. The pistachio filling is fine but the outer layer (pastry) was way too sweet.

  • Classic Plain Scone & Fruity Cranberry Scone - Served with Authentic Clotted Cream & House-made Fruit Jam of The Day
  • Teh Tarik Choux-choux - Choux Pastry, Teh Tarik Pastry Cream, Chocolate Hazelnut, Gianduja Molten Heart
How can you end the high tea without scone? But seriously, I had tried afternoon tea set WITHOUT a scone (that's crazy)! As usual, they served the plain scone and cranberry scone with cream and fruit jam. However, I feel the scone's size was smaller than usual. I would still prefer the normal size scone instead. Lol.

Last but not least, it's photo time with my girls! Finally, our #SAYGirlSquad reunited after one year! This time we came out to chit chat about our future plans. I’m so glad that we had the talk and I miss the nonstop chatting with you girls! Looking forward to our next gathering and hopefully soon.
