Wellington, New Zealand Travelogue

WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND TRAVELOGUE

Finally it has comes to the last post of my New Zealand trip. Or should I blog about New Zealand Guide? Anyway, today post is all about Wellington which is the capital city and second most populous urban area of New Zealand. Love this city but the weather is so windy!

As usual, our daily routine at New Zealand must comes with breakfast because we need to walk a lot.

We dropped by at the random restaurant and I had ordered Egg Benedict for myself.

We also ordered salad and french fries for sharing purpose. Aghhh....I miss breakfast at New Zealand. I don't usually take breakfast in Malaysia.

WETA WORKSHOP
Our first attraction was Weta Workshop. It is a special effects and prop company based in Miramar, New Zealand, producing effects for television and film. Weta Workshop does creative development, publishing, weapons, props, creatures, make-up, miniatures, public art, merchandise for films such as The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Avatar, Elysium, District 9, Godzilla, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

You can see my cover photo for this post photo above is the ork figure from the movie - Lord of The Ring. Well, it was one of their work. Done so amazingly right? I'm impressed and I can't wait to explore more.

Since we can't take any photo during the tour, so I briefly talk about it with you guys in words. Basically when you had arrived, you can just shop or join the tour. Of course, there are certain fees for the entry. There are many different kind of tours. After purchase the tickets at the counter, they will call you batch by batch through microphone.

Weta Studio Tours is your gateway to immersive film-making experiences in Wellington, New Zealand.  Join us on a journey from Middle-earth to Tracy Island and beyond as you explore 20 years of award-winning creativity!

They had won 36 awards, 5 Oscars and 4 BAFTAs. Feel amazed right? Thus, don't forget to join the tour and have a look on behind the scenes.

Feel impressed on their skills and work. All the sculptures / figure is so beautifully done.

If you look at the details, their face and body is exactly same as in movie.

Of course I won't missed the chance to take selfie with my favourite character in Lord of The Ring - Gollum!

In case you didn't watch LOTR, Gollum is a fictional character from J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium. He was introduced in the 1937 fantasy novel The Hobbit, and became an important supporting character in its sequel, The Lord of the Rings.

I posted our photo on Instagram and some of my friends DM me saying both of us look alike....

Erm, I'm not sure I should be happy or not~ Lol

Have anyone watched Ghost In the Shell? Although I didn't watch it but I do watched their movie trailer.

Can't believe Weta Workshop has done so many sculpture for popular movies such as Planet of The Apes!

Do you know even those weapons in Warcraft and District 9 was created by them too?
I strongly recommend this attraction and a must-visit in Wellington. We also bought many posters, sculptures and other souvenirs home because it is a must as well. Lol

Address : Corner Camperdown Rd & Weka St. Miramar, Wellington, New Zealand.

We then head to the city area and decided to have a walk.

Since that day was so cloudy, therefore my photos has little bit of low saturation.

Oh my, the weather is so windy on that day!

Me and my sisters try to take a great photo but my sister's hands are keep shaking because she feel cold. Lol

Since my sister feel cold and try to hide somewhere.

Therefore, I asked my mom to take some photos of me.

Not bad huh? I tried to train all my family members to become my personal photographer hahaha.

I feel glad that their photo shooting skills has been improved.

Since we had try so many different kinds of food during our trip such Thai, India, Chinese and American etc.

Therefore, I had requested Italian food!

Pasta and pizza is all I want! I hard ordered Smoked Salmon with Penne in Carbonara and Peppermint Tea.

Taste good and I love the interior because of good lighting.

We also had ordered milestone soup and roasted potato for sharing purpose. Although the roasted potato is little bit salty, but it taste great though.

MUSEUM OF NEW ZEALAND TE PAPA TONGAREWA
The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa is the national museum and art gallery of New Zealand, located in WellingtonTe Papa is New Zealand's innovative and interactive national museum. Explore the great treasures and stories of this country – its unique natural environment, Maori culture, art heritage, and fascinating history.

'Te Papa Tongarewa’ literally means ‘container of treasures’. Discover the treasures and stories of New Zealand’s land and people under one roof.

Get shaken up in the Earthquake House or come face to face with a colossal squid, then explore its life through 3D animation.

COLOSSAL SQUID
The world's only complete colossal squid specimen is on display at the Te Papa Museum. This is the popular Giant Squid in the museum which is now frozen and restored. I watched some of its documentary on the LED screen.

The San Aspiring, a New Zealand fishing boat, caught the colossal squid in February of 2007. The crew was fishing with baited hooks, and unexpectedly they caught a 500kg colossal squid that was nibbling on an Antarctic tooth-fish.  The squid was barely alive and close to death, so they brought it into the freezer of the ship as a specimen.

The colossal squid is now believed to be the largest squid species in the world. Larger and heavier than a giant squid, equipped with limbs covered in teeth and hooks, a gigantic razor sharp beak, and the largest eyes in the world (10 inches across, the size of soccer balls), the colossal squid goes to show that "sea monsters"may exist after all. I'm not gonna lie, this giant squid is so huge in reality!

Oh my god, it was so cute! I don't know what is it but it look so cuteeeee.

Look like a raccoon to me but maybe different species? Let me know if you know the name of this animal by leaving a comment.

With a combination of the latest technology and classic story-telling, Te Papa educates, entertains, and inspires. It's been a long time since I had visited a museum. This museum is definitely worth to visit!

After finished visited Te Papa museum, we were so hungry. So we dropped by at one of Chinese restaurant to have our dinner. At first we thought want to take dim sum as breakfast at here in the morning, but that time they still haven't open yet. Luckily they open at night time so we can pay a visit. We saw the ranking is not bad via online so we decided to give it a try.

So far their foods are great and services are friendly. I personally love this fried dumpling. Taste so good!

On the next day, we wake up early in the morning and take flight from Wellington to Auckland. The flight distance is approximately 1 hour and we took our breakfast at the airport. I had ordered the potato dish (photo above) but I forgot the name already. Basically it served with potato, mushroom, spring onion, sour cream and ketchup. Quite unique and I like it.

That's all for my New Zealand travelogues. Hopefully you guys enjoy reading and don't forget to leave a comment if you have any question. I will try my best to answer all of you. Thanks for reading and don't forget to watch the my vlog below. XOXO.
