Excavations carried out here have brought to surface the ruins of a wonderful brick monastery with beautiful carvings, a Chaitya with bow shaped arches, four monasteries and a huge stupa. The Buddhist treasures unearthed from here also include a large number of gold and silver articles, a stone container, earthen pot and traces of Kushana dynasty and Brahmi script. A massive image of the Buddha is a unique find, the image has pursed lips, long ears and wide forehead. It is one of the Buddhist site of India.

Lalitgiri
Lalitgiri, 90 km away from Bhubaneswar, is one of the points of the Buddhist Triangle popularly known as the Diamond Triangle of Odisha, singing the glory of a past heritage spanning from 3rd Century BC to 15th Century AD. Huge brick monasteries, the remains of a chaitya hall, a number of votive stupas and a renovated stone stupa atop a small rugged sand stone hill dominate the rural greenery around.

The Sculpture shed of the ASI displays a large number of Mahayana Sculptures consisting of life-size figures, most of which interestingly contain short inscriptions on them. The standing Buddha figure with the knee - length draperies over the shoulders remind one of the influences of the Gandhara and Mathura Schools of art. The Bodhisattva images are some of the most finely figures produced in India. Lalitgiri is one of the oldest Buddhist Centres of Odisha.

Udayagiri
( Udayagiri )
Udayagiri
The entire area is found located at the foothills of a large hill that acts as an imposing backdrop. The archaeological remains at Udayagiri consist of a brick stupa, two brick monasteries in Udayagiri-I and the other with truss of a chaitya (Temple) and Monastery in Udayagiri-II, a beautiful stepped Rock-cut well with inscriptions on it.

The large number of well-built images of dhyani Buddha, Bodhisattva, Avalokiteswara, Tara, Jambhala, Aparajita, Heruka etc. A double storeyed monastery with a shrine chamber, having circumambulating path, a water reservoir and such other features make Udayagiri unique in the Buddhist World.

When we arrived on top of the place, we saw two children are there and smile widely to us. It is sad to see they are living in these environment but they are seem to be happy. It remind me need to cherish what we are own now. Don't take everything as granted.

After finished two historic places, we then having our lunch nearby. As usual, they prepare the local food buffet for us. These foods are yummy especially the soup!

Ratnagiri and the nearby places like Dhauligiri, Udayagiri and Lalitgiri, generally known as Ratnagiri Buddhist Circuit are the ideal Buddhist tourism destinations because of the presence of numerous monasteries, stupas and chaityas.

Ratnagiri
Ratnagiri is not only a religious place, but also a great place of learning for the Buddhism of Tantric commune, known as Vajrayana.

Ratnagiri
All the above indicate the importance of Ratnagiri as one of the main Buddhist centres of Odisha from very early times. The Mahavihara at Ratnagiri, as revealed from Odishan inscriptions, was a great centre of learning in Buddhist Philosophy. The New Museum of the ASI houses the scattered images of the area in a decent way for the visitors.

What a beautiful light show. It use the projector to tell us the story of the king. The performance duration is about 30 minutes and I personally think it is worthy to watch. First time I saw something like that. It is amazing.
